The sharpening stones with granulation #1000 and #6000 are most suitable for blades made out of harder steel (over 60 HRC).

#1000 grit is the most common, general sharpening granulation (to put a new edge on a blunt knife), while the #6000 grit is a finer granulation for an extremely sharp edge and final polish of the blade. The separation of the grits into two individual whetstones ensures prolonged usability.
